Love exists in many ways, and whatever way it shows up, it is good. In honor of Valentine's Day, I thought it would be fun to highlight a special kind of love. Let me explain.

Do you get butterflies in your stomach when you hire a new communications consultant? Do your palms sweat a bit when they email you a deliverable? Does your heart go aflutter when you see them integrating smoothly into your team?

Talent matchmaking

These are all signs of communications leaders "falling in love" with the Evo Communications consultants they hire. And no, I don’t mean romantic love; rather, the love they feel for the work they do, for the value they bring to the organization and the way they make everyone’s lives a little easier.  If you have worked with Evo Communications before, you know what I mean. And if you haven’t, here’s a glimpse of what you can expect and the steps that lead to you loving your consultant and their contributions.

“Within the first couple of days of our consultant joining our team, I called her to discuss a project I needed her to take on. I barely started describing the project, and she had already talked to the internal client, developed the plan, and was sending it to me for my review.  My heart skipped a beat. I knew, at that moment, that I was professionally in love with her!” – Happy Evo Communications Client

Step 1 – The Matchmaking Begins

Well before you meet any consultants, you and I talk about what you need, why you need it, what your expectations are and what success looks like. During our conversation, I listen and take notes, all while the wheels start to churn about who I have on my pre-approved bench of consultants.

Step 2 – Mining the Talent

One unique aspect of working with Evo Communications is the carefully curated network of experienced corporate communications consultants at your disposal. I have personally interviewed and vetted every single one and can confidently recommend them and their work. I know their strengths, experience and their availability, which allows me to be laser-focused on finding three candidates who best fit your needs and present them to you.

“Our consultant is a pleasure to work with. He takes initiative, is efficient and his work is very thorough.” – Happy Evo Communications Client

Step 3 – The Interviews

By now, you’re excited. You know the names of the selected consultants you’re meeting, and you have seen their impressive resumes and writing samples. You understand the value they can bring to you and your organization, and you look forward to interviewing them. When you do, you are impressed by their preparation and presence as they convey what they can add to your organization.

After each interview, the butterflies make themselves known as you begin to sense what a difference any one of the three will bring. The only lingering, and probably hardest question, is which consultant will you go with?

The silver lining is that you know whoever you choose will be the right decision.

“Our consultant got the assignment from Day One, using her extensive HR strategy and comms experience to gain trust immediately.” – Happy Evo Communications Client

Step 4 – The Onboarding

Once you make your choice and all the administrative stuff is taken care of, the real fun begins: the onboarding. This is when the relationship reveals itself.

First, you are amazed at how quickly your consultant ramps up and gets to work. And second, you relish in the consultant's preparedness and ability to anticipate your needs. That is because they show up ready to do what you are hiring them to do. Feel those butterflies again? Yeah, get used to it.

“Our consultant immediately understood the tremendous comms intricacies of process- and tech-enabled transformations. It made my life so much easier.” – Happy Evo Communications Client

Step 5 – The Work

Once your consultant is up and running, they are up and running. You know they’re there, but you’re not babysitting or micromanaging them. They do their thing while you do yours, and it’s beautiful. You are falling fast for their abilities and the work they do.

They bring a peace of mind you didn’t know you needed by finishing projects, adding an objective eye or providing expertise your team lacked. Your stress level has subsided, at least a little, and you attribute it, in part, to your communications consultant.

“Our consultant brings a level of process expertise I didn’t even realize we were missing, creating clarity and structure where it was lacking.  She consistently leans into all projects with drive and curiosity, often solving problems before I even know they exist.” – Happy Evo Communications Client

And when the contract ends, you can extend it for more work or decide it's time to take a break. Either way, we know the love and appreciation you have for your communications consultant will not fade.

Clients have “fallen in love” with their Evo Communications consultant for more than eight years. If you want to discover what other corporate communications leaders already have, please feel free to reach out. I’d love to talk about how we can help.

“I'd give our consultant one of those classic heart candies that says, ‘YOU ROCK’ because he rocks!” – Happy Evo Communications Client
